Police visit Holcombe Hunt kennels after bagged fox tip off

Police are reported to have made an unannounced visit to the Holcombe Hunt’s kennels earlier this morning, in relation to a tip off they had received regarding a “bagged fox”. Unfortunately it is believed nothing was found at the kennels.

Later in the day the Holcombe Hunt and the Essex Hunt joint meet went ahead on United Utilities land at Anglezarke, near Rivington.

The hunts headed for a large wood called ‘The Flat’ which belongs to United Utilities. The hounds were put through the wood but drew a blank.

The presence of hunt sabs caused the hunt head away, but the hunt support stayed and the hunt came back and the huntsman put the hounds into the wood. This time the hounds quickly found a fox and hunted it through the dense wood with the huntsman not calling the hounds off.

Later a hare was put up not far from the hounds, fortunately hunt sabs were close by and able to ensure it got away safely.

UPDATE

Video footage from a static camera captured a fox being hunted through a wood owned by United Utilities.
