Chesham man jailed over dog fighting offences

A MAN has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to several dog fighting offences.

Mohammed Butt, 23, of Benham Close, Chesham, pleaded guilty to three counts of causing an animal fight and two of keeping an animal for fighting at Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 28.

Two other men charged with similar offences pleaded not guilty.

Sajid Mamood, 28, of Batchelors Way, Chesham, pleaded not guilty to two charges of causing an animal fight, one charge of being present at an animal fight, one charge of keeping an animal for the purpose of fighting and one charge of owning a pit bull terrier type dog.

Javid Jahangir, 28, of Milton Road, Chesham, pleaded not guilty to two charges of causing an animal fight, one charge of training an animal to fight, two charges of keeping an animal for the purpose of fighting and one charge of owning a pit bull terrier type dog.

Mamood and Jahangir are to appear at the same court on May 2 for their trial.
