Chesham man involved in dog fighting

A MAN has been given a community order after admitting to being present at a dog fight in Chesham.

Danny Bignell, 31, of Cresswell Road, Chesham, admitted the charge at a hearing at Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 24.

Bignell received a 12 month supervised community order, 150 hours unpaid community work and was banned from keeping an animal for 10 years.

He also had to pay £500 in prosecution costs.

PC Hailey Goodwin of Chesham police station said: “We’ve been working with partnership agencies and the RSPCA on this. The investigation follows reports and concerns from the Chesham community over the last year.

“I’m pleased to say there have been no further reports in the past six months, the investigation continues and we will continue to work with the RSPCA and carry out further warrants and arrests if necessary to prevent and deter illegal behaviour in the area.”

Area commander for the Chilterns Chief Inspector Ian Hunter said: “It demonstrates the style of policing I like to see where the community come forward with their concerns, we listen to them, take it seriously and work with partner agencies and find those responsible and bring them to account.
