Appeal over cat gin trap horror

A CAT suffered horrific injuries when its leg became caught in a ‘barbaric’ illegal gin trap.

Simba, a two-year-old black and tabby cat, suffered crushing injuries to his right leg in the incident.

Revealing details of the incident yesterday RSPCA Inspector Jackie Hickman, who appealed for information about those responsible for leaving the trap, said Simba went missing from its home in Tennyson Road, Wolverhampton, on April 30.

‘The cat was found later that day by a passer-by, with a gin trap attached to its right leg.

‘A local vet removed the trap and treated the severe crushing injuries.

‘Barbaric’

‘These traps are barbaric and whoever set this trap showed a total disregard for the welfare of animals,’ she added.
