Four men admit badger digging

Injured Dogs Found At Badger Sett

Four men from Dartford today pleaded guilty at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court for disturbing a badger sett and for causing unnecessary suffering to four dogs.

The court heard how in February 2004, RSPCA inspectors was called by a member of the public to an area near to Daltons Road, Crockenhill, Swanley in Kent, after reports of men acting suspiciously near a badger sett.

Robert Lee Wenham, 23, Edward George Murphy, 21 and Jimmy Eastwood, 21, all from Darenth Wood Road, Dartford, Kent; and William James Dennard, 19, of Mill Road, Dartford, Kent, were arrested at the scene by Kent police.

Each was given a 30-month conditional discharge, ordered to pay £500 costs and banned from keeping dogs for five years.

Two dogs owned by Murphy are currently in the care of the RSPCA while the other three dogs have been re-homed.
